My projects

I got married in September. We invited circa 120 guests and the fastest way to update them with complete and up to date information was to refer them to a website.

As part of my gradual ditching of Google services I moved my calendars into my own Nextcloud instance.

Nextcloud is an opensource self-hostable platform, into which you can install modules to add services you need. The goal of the project is to be a fully-fledged replacement of file storage and office suite by Google, Microsoft or Apple.

My girlfriend coorganizes with friends a small christmass concert for other friends. It's always an amazing event that pushes you instantly into a christmass mood. And because I can't sing or play any instrument I decided to help with something I can actually do. I created a web with info about the concert, about performers and about each performed song.

It's been a few years since i last upgraded my 3D printer. During this time a lot of new printer features were invented and several parts got cheap enough for me. Also my printer was havilly used and few parts started to show that thay are worn out. It's time for a bigger maintenance.

I created a web presentation for architect Michaela Štádlerová. Design is based on her printed portfolio. I liked the pure technical approach of it and wanted to bring the same design on web. Therefore design is based on large white areas with nice and clean typography. A selected font makes an important role together with simple black color accented by blue details. All this brings viewer's focus to drawings, models and other images on the page.

I love opened and federated technologies, so I was looking for opened social network. I wanted someting that works the same as E-mail does. Everybody can choose if his E-mail account will be hosted on Gmail or for example on Yahoo or if he builds his own E-mail server. Because it doesn't matter where man signs up. Message from user on one provider will find it's way to to mailbox of other user on different provider.

We bought an ordinary Ikea lamp Vidja to the living room. All lights in the room are connected to my home automation system, thus I wanted this new lamp to connect also.

I bought a new pair of shelves above the bed. Nothing special, just Ikea. But right after mounting them on the wall I knew, that I also need to add a lamp in form of a LED strip under them. And If I say a lamp, I mean a dimmable smart lamp connected to my home system.

I was asked to print a replacement for a broken part of an elevator. I don't know where exactly this piece fits on actual elevator, but it seems to be a cover of an emergency telephone speaker.

Originally I wanted to do it my traditional way. First scan the piece using ordinary 2D scanner. Then trace outlines in Inkcape to get vector paths. Export paths to Openscad and there use several extrusions, differences, joins and other operations to create a model. 

All my personal and company computers are powered by Arch Linux with encrypted storages. This setup brings an inconvenience of entering two passwords on startup. One unlocks the storage encryption, second logs me to my user account. Isn't there a way to unlock the system volume automatically? Mobile phones for example also encrypt their storages and still we don't have to enter a password during boot.

It's here again. The Pardubice summer camp i getting closer and closer ang again I was asked for designing a new T-shirt logo. Every year childern get a souvenier in form of an original themed T-shirt. This year, the theme of the camp is about scientists travelling around the world and distributing a new vaccine to cure an epidemic  virus.

During the time, the list of websites I am managing became quite long. I built all of them on top of the opensource project Drupal, so when a new update of Drupal or one of it's extension arrives, new round of updating work begins for me.

For year I am using app, which advertises for me products on Fler automatically. First, I made an Opera extension, later I switched to Chrome and so I ported the extension to Chrome. But web evolved a lot and my extension is not working properly anymore. Fixing it seems to be too difficult.

Again, I was asked to create a logo for the upcoming Pardubice summer camp. This year children are going to help alien visitors in returning to their home planet. Because children will get these t-shirts on the very end of the camp thus on the hapy end of the story, the logo pictures the moment of goodbyes and successful departure of space friends to their home.

System Drupal 7 becomes deprecated, so I working on migration of all my web sites to newer Drupal 8. Now I managed to upgrade the web of housing association made in the year 2015. There is a lot of incompatibilities in the new Drupal version, so upgrading it means to create also a new theme and replace few deprecated modules.

I am running my mom's web sites for years now. In fact these are two webs, both presenting her art skills using photogallery of her creations. One web is presenting my mom as talented florist, the other one shows her as jewellery maker.

Websites were based on CMS Drupal version 7, now i decided to migrate these to Drupal 8. On that occasion I also made new theme based on modern frontend framework Bootstrap 4.

It's a while I last did some hardware project and I had an idea of building a gimbal in my head for some time now. And suddenly I discovered somebody who was selling brushless gimbal motors for cheap. That was the first impuls. I ordered these motors and started to study what is needed to control the gimbal and started to design the construction.

After 6 years of using domain skorpils.cz, a skorpil.cz domain got free. Hurray, I registered it immediately and transfered all my services on it. With new domain I wanted also refresh my website running on this domain.

In the year 2018, the main theme of our camp was Pirates. The plan was, that in every game children gain coins from a treasure instead of just points. So I offered to design and 3D print these coins with our camp logo.
